AREA
Alexander's is situated in the old southern part of the center
of Amsterdam called 'Oud-Zuid / de Pijp'.
It is only a three minutes walk along a canal to Museum square
(Rijksmuseum, van Gogh museum)
Located very centrally between the old center, the western,
the eastern and new southern part of the city. De Pijp has
a nice laid-back atmosphere. Here you can experience Dutch
daily life with a multicultural accent. There are a lot of
small enterprises. You are close to all kinds of shopping
possibilities: like the most well-known market from Holland,
the Albert Cuijp market two blocks away, the Hema department
store and the more sophisticated shopping streets around Museumsquare.
A great variety of restaurants too. The old center and the
canals on 5 minutes walking distance just beyond Rijksmuseum
and the Heineken Brewery Museum. Relax in the Vondelpark,
Sarphatipark , Beatrixpark or the green Museumsquare. For
cycling you can make a trip along the river Amstel to the
village of Ouderkerk or follow the dike north to the village
of Durgerdam on the lake Ysselmeer. A visit to Zaanse Schans,
the windmill area with clog maker and cheese farm is a another
great thing to do (north of Amsterdam: 30 minutes by car).
The nightlife you will find on Leidse square or Rembrandt
square. In case you are visiting a conference or exhibition:
the RAI center is near.

INFORMATION
The house on Gerard Doustraat was built in 1886, has a nice
façade and has 5 levels with private studio's, two room
( 4/5 persons)or three room (6/7 persons) private apartments
including shower, toilet, kitchen (surface 10 to 75 square meters
= 110 to 825 square feet). Alexander's is located on 25 meter
from the "Boerenwetering" one of the canals leading
to Rijksmuseum and the old center. The smaller studio's have
a washbasin and a shared bathroom and fully equipped kitchen,
the bigger studios have a private bathroom and kitchen. In case
of shared facilities you may find the bathroom or kitchen on
a different floor. The rooms have double beds, in some rooms
a third bed is possible. Television, audio set and telephone
in the room/ apartment. There is no elevator. The Gerard Doustraat
is a low traffic street. Public transport stops round the corner.
Bicycles for rent at Alexander's. Private boat tours inluding
skipper organised (sloop)
Alexander's is not a luxurious place but has character, is cosy
and convenient: "the real thing" where "Amsterdammers"
live. Jogging for free! : steep and narrow flights of stairs.
No elevator, only two groundfloor apartments available.

free of charge.

one month before arrival: 10 % will be
charged with a maximum of 25 Euro per room

conditions according to Standard Terms and Conditions Hotel
and Catering Industry (UVH):
* Cancellation more than 14 days before date of arrival: 15
% will be charged.
* Cancellation more than 7 days before date of arrival: 35
% will be charged.
* Cancellation more than 3 days before date of arrival: 60
